A truly economic and environmentally friendly option to improving window efficiency...
An ideal option for Historic or Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas, Secondary Glazing provides a solution to cold, draughty rooms and traffic noise. It is a slim-line internal window which is made to suit the sightlines of your window and be as unobtrusive as possible. Bon Accord Glass can supply and fit a range of bespoke secondary glazed windows, each custom built to your needs. Like double glazing, it is designed to insulate your home and reduce external noise.

Horizontal sliding secondary glazing...
Horizontal sliding secondary glazing is easy to fit, cost effective and is very popular in conservation areas or in listed buildings where the existing external windows cannot be changed. Secondary glazing is ideal near busy roads, airports, railway lines or where your existing windows are draughty. Even if you have double glazing already you may still find it beneficial to fit secondary glazing. You can also add a flyscreen to triple track secondary glazing allowing you to keep out both bugs and noise.
The horizontal sliding secondary glazing we supply and install can between 400mm to 5000mm wide and from 400mm to 2200mm high. The glazed panels slide on either wheels or hard wearing brass rollers. In the closed position the secondary glazed panels click and latch onto the outer frame. Secondary glazing comes as standard in white, brown or silver colours, or it can be in any one of over 200 RAL colours.
Vertical sliding secondary glazing...
Vertical sliding secondary glazing is one of the most popular types of secondary glazing, second only to the more “traditional” horizontal sliding secondary glazing. This style of secondary opens upwards sliding vertically and is perfect for mirroring traditional vertical sliding sash windows.
Designed to match existing sash windows so sight lines are unaffected, tilt in balanced vertical sliding secondary glazing is one of the most popular secondary glazing products. Particularly suited to older properties with sliding sash windows, the individually pre-tensioned spiral spring balances control the motion of the sash, enabling infinite vertical positioning. This design provides ease of movement and can be pivoted through almost 180 degrees. This is especially useful for cleaning as both the back of the glass and the original window can be cleaned but just as importantly can be crucial when considering fire escape requirements.
Side hinged secondary glazing...
Without doubt the side hinged is the most versatile type. Ideally suited to large glazed areas with minimal sight lines, the system offers a high level security with easy access to the primary glazing. Also available as a Tilt & Turn style and a Double Hinged Unit, all options are fitted with a multipoint high security locking system and can have either butt or concealed hinges depending on the situation. The ability to utilise tilt and turn gearing also increased the flexibility of use, giving high level ventilation and a secure night vent position, whilst retaining easy access to the original window for cleaning and general maintenance.
Clip in, lift out secondary glazing...
Clip in / clip out secondary glazing is designed to reduce noise and cut heat loss by adding another window inside, and in addition to existing external windows. Economically, the Lift Out is the most cost effective type of secondary glazing available, commonly used where limited access to the original window is required perhaps where a window has been installed for the sole purpose of providing light. The lift out secondary system has very slim sight lines which help the secondary unit go unnoticed behind each existing window. The double brush pile seal on the back of the unit helps create an excellent seal onto the existing window, which will help prevents draughts and helps to block out sound. The secondary glazing comes in three standard colours which are white, brown and silver. Optionally the aluminium frames can be painted in any RAL colour.
Fixed frame secondary glazing...
The fixed secondary glazing we supply and install can be from 200mm to 2000mm wide and between 200mm to 2200mm high. Fixed secondary glazing comes in three standard colours of white, brown and silver. Optionally the aluminium frames can be painted any RAL colour. The fixed unit does not come with trims as the product is fitted directly into the existing window frame. The panels are a single glazed unit that is not removable. These fixed secondary glazing window units come with pre-drilled countersunk holes, which makes them relatively easy and quick to install.
