How To Get Your Front Door Insta-Worthy
Use either of the following hashtags on Instagram, #frontdoor or #frontdoors, and you will see all sorts of attractive and beautiful front doors.
Millions of Instagram users pull out of the stops with their front doors not just because they know it will look good on the social media platform, but also because they recognise the importance of their front door making a good first impression.
Your front door alone can determine whether your home gets the thumbs up or thumbs down from people who come to visit, so it needs to cause the best possible stir.
This is a 3-step guide to making your front door more than Insta-worthy.
Coloured finish
The colour of your front door is one of the biggest choices you face if you’re planning to repaint it or invest in a door upgrade.
Most homeowners gravitate towards grey, black or white, but why not throw the rule book out of the window and go for a Chartwell Green or Duck Egg Blue?
Be careful not to go over the top with your colour choice. A bright pink door, for instance, will only appeal to a small percentage of people.
Door wreath
A significant number of the most liked front doors on Instagram have a door wreath, which goes to show that the door wreath isn’t just reserved for the Christmas period.
Have a go at making your own door wreath, if you have the relevant crafting skills, or the alternative is to take the easier option and purchase a pre-made wreath, with either real or fake foliage.
A wreath for this time of the year would traditionally include colours such as pink, red and orange. You can always change your wreath with the coming of every season.
Plants
No Insta-worthy door can be considered completed without some planters in close proximity to it.
The popular choice is to have twin potted bay trees at each side of an entrance and they do tend to make a front door more visually engaging.
They will need to be watered regularly, as will any hanging baskets that you install outside of the door. If you think you will forget to water them, make sure that the plants are low-maintenance.
