How To Get Your Home Looking Festive For Christmas
It’s going to be an unusual Christmas for us all, but we can still make it a memorable one in our own homes.
All your normal festive parties can take place, but they will just have to be done virtually instead via Zoom, with your customary Christmas jumper worn, drinks kept close to hand, and games played through computer screens.
And don’t even think about not decorating the house! It has to be done.
Get the mulled wine poured and Christmas tunes blasting out to fully get you in the mood whilst decorating.
Impress Santa when he pops down the chimney on Christmas Day with a house full of festive cheer, which it will be when you use these up-to-the-minute decorating ideas:
Hang an upside-down Christmas tree
It sounds like a crazy suggestion, but lots of people are being unconventional this year and hanging their Christmas tree from the ceiling.
Celebs like Ariana Grande have done it, but it’s not actually a new thing as Christmas trees were first hanged upside-down back in the middle ages as a religious idea.
Many online retailers are selling them, including Christmas Tree World. If you do it, you HAVE to post it on social media as it will go down a storm with your followers.
Dress up your stairs
We add wreaths to our front doors and line our windows with fairy lights at Christmas, but we often neglect to use our stairs for decorative purposes.
You could have an all-natural garland run from the top of your bannister to the bottom of it, or along its base, or wind a stringed garland around the spindles of the staircase.
Don’t leave the steps bare either. Pop little Christmas boxes on each of them for an extra festive touch.
Wrap your front door like a Christmas present
We’re sure you will have plenty of presents to wrap in the run-up to Christmas, and you can wrap your front door whilst you’re at it.
It’s simple to do. For a light or white coloured door, just get some red fabric, a bow, scissors, heavy duty magnet and duct tape.
Take some measurements of the door before cutting the fabric and wrapping the door with it and taping it down, using the heavy duty magnet to keep the bow secure.
If your front door looks on its last legs and no amount of decoration manages to disguise this, ask Bon Accord Glass to quote you for a new front door, which we’ll do for FREE.
