Try And Protect Against Rising Energy Costs With New Windows And Doors
Homeowners are facing the hardest of times at the moment, with millions falling into fuel poverty as a result of the recent change to the energy price cap.
Until 1st April, it stood at £1277. But it’s now gone up by 54%, taking it to a wallet-busting £1971, and a similar rise in October is widely expected.
As things stand, the general consensus amongst energy experts is that the price cap could increase to around £2600, if not more.
Even the biggest advocate of switching suppliers, Martin Lewis, has advised us against doing so for now because of the lack of cheaper tariffs available.
What we’d strongly advise you to do is to get energy efficient windows and doors installed prior to the rolling out of the October price cap.
Let us explain our reasoning.
Energy Efficient Windows
Never replaced your windows before? They could be a major cause of heat loss due to their ageing frames and low-performing glass, which won’t help your cause.
Perform the following test on your windows to see if heat is escaping through them. Stand close with a candle and watch for any flickering of the flame. Cracks in the sealant and any sign of moisture or mould could also signify heat loss.
If you need some replacements, our windows are all A+ energy rated as standard, making them great for heat retention and heat transference, which could help you make a great annual saving.
Energy Efficient Doors
Heat could also be sneaking its way out through your front and rear doors. You can do the same test with the candle to check if heat loss is occurring.
New doors will have a significant impact as they are required to have a minimum U-value of 1.8 W/m² so that they comply with UK Building Regulations.
The lower the U-value, the better the insulating performance of a door, and our replacement doors have a suitably low U-value figure, which may result in them helping you generate great energy savings.
You can expect to get at least 10 years of fantastic performance out of our energy efficient windows and doors, as that’s how long the guarantee runs for.
