What Condensation Is And How You Can Eliminate It

It is starting to feel noticeably colder some mornings as we approach the end of summer and head into the autumn and winter months.

Replacement UPVC Windows

This drop in temperatures early in the day may be causing a build-up of condensation on your windows and it can look rather unsightly when opening your curtains. Consistent condensation might also lead to the formation of mould and damp and when this is left alone it can have implications on your health.

It is relatively simple to stop condensation from occurring and is much easier to do when you get to know what condensation is and how it occurs.

An absence of ventilation and poor heating prevents any water vapour in the air from escaping properly and that’s when condensation rears its ugly head.

Wintertime is when condensation is most likely to blight your windows and it’s because in cold periods the air floating around the inside of your house is less capable of holding vapour. This is when those droplets start to form on the cold surface of the glass.

This is how you can keep your windows clear of condensation

You’re far less likely to find condensation on your windows when you take these proven steps of preventing it:

  1. We have experienced several mild winters in recent times and when the weather is set fair try and hang out any clothes than need drying on the washing line outside. Only use your radiators and / or tumble dryer when you have to.

  1. Give the warm air generated when taking a hot shower or bath a passage of escape by opening the bathroom window before you get started.

  1. People have a tendency to push their sofa and various other pieces of furniture right up against the walls of their interior. Leaving even the smallest of gaps between the furniture and walls will make a difference as it helps air circulate more freely.

  1. Stop any steam escaping from your pans when cooking vegetables for dinner by putting their lids on securely.

  1. Get any traditional single glazed windows replaced and invest in double or triple glazed window equivalents. Then look into how you can improve ventilation.
