Tom & Jordan's
Grey Envisage Flush Windows & French Door
A 1920’s cottage passed down the generations gets a delicate upgrade.
After assessing our extensive window range, it was identified that our Envisage windows were a fantastic contemporary match for the old windows.
This is a true family home as since it was originally built in the 1920’s, the cottage was lived in by Tom’s great grandparents, grandad and three younger brothers, and now Tom is its chief custodian. Upon moving in he made the decision to update the cottage but wished to do so without spoiling its character.
A photograph of the cottage in the 1950’s proved priceless for our team as it informed the replacement window design. Envisage flush casement windows seemed the perfect option as it was possible to finish the coloured bars and monkeytail handles in a hard grey colour, exactly what was needed. This grey colour sustains the traditional mood of the building, both externally and internally.
Tom loves to entertain guests at home, which was behind his decision to have the kitchen window converted into French doors. This move helped to establish a flow between the kitchen and garden and because of that, the functionality of the two settings is so much different now.
Four hours is all it took to complete the job…
Tom shares the house with Jordan, his partner, two dogs and several chickens. He’s thrilled with how the changes have modernised the cottage, reduced the impact of external noise and enhanced thermal comfort. We would like to think that the cottage’s previous custodians would approve of Tom’s decision-making.
